John Chasteen is a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) in the state of Ohio. Having a passion working in the LGBTQAI+ communities, John is thrilled to be a part of the ITG team. With extensive experience working with youth and adults, John develops a queer approach to Cognitive Behavioral and Dialectical Behavioral therapies to increase agency while fostering safe spaces for individuals to find healing in behavioral wellness.
John’s focus is helping queer folks to achieve emotional regulation while dealing with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma, and issues related to navigating the heteronormative world. John challenges clients’ ingrained belief systems and coaches them on how to make changes within themselves to better manage their actions and reactions. John’s therapeutic approach is built upon process, as well as the unpacking of thoughts and emotions, combined with an element of behavioral analysis, while maintaining a warm and empathetic style.
A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, John earned his Master of Social Work at the University of Cincinnati in 2016. During his tenure at the University of Cincinnati, his focus was trans identities access to healthcare. John’s experience since graduation consists of working in a hospital environment in clinical leadership roles. John is currently based in Columbus, Ohio.
