Martin Avellaneda is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (FL) and a Licensed Professional Counselor (OR), located in Central Florida. Martin received his Master’s in Marriage, Couples, and Family Therapy from the University of Central Florida. He is culturally sensitive, sex-positive, kink allied, and polyamory/ENM affirming. Martin has extensive experience working with addictions, trauma, and life stress, and he is a Certified DBT Therapist as well as a Certified Safe & Sound Protocol provider.
Martin takes a systemic approach to treatment, meaning he considers what influences a person both internally and externally. Clients are invited to explore their past to gain an understanding of what has shaped them into who they are today, while also expressing who they wish to become. Martin then collaborates with clients to help them move toward that version of themselves, using evidence-based techniques tailored to their needs.
Martin’s therapeutic style is inviting and direct. He utilizes motivational interviewing to support clients in pursuing their life goals, and incorporates parts work to help resolve internal conflicts. Through his training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and the Safe & Sound Protocol, Martin offers structured, skills-based support for emotion regulation, nervous system regulation, and relational functioning. He is dedicated to providing high-quality counseling to all clients he serves.
