Brittany Rivers is a licensed counselor in Florida, South Carolina, and Colorado. Many of Brittany’s clients seek therapy to process through trauma and difficult life experiences that have caused challenging feelings and behaviors that are getting in the way of the life they want. Brittany practices from a social justice and systems lens, exploring the impacts of navigating the various systems that we are part of and how they impact our mental health such as our family system, political and economic systems, and the environment. Brittany works to validate and contextualize client experiences and support them to challenge and release the ways these experiences may have led to negative beliefs about themselves.
Brittany’s approach to therapy draws from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Exposure with Response Prevention Treatment (ERP), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), mindfulness-based therapies, Climate Psychology, and Decolonizing Therapy. Through the therapy process, clients learn skills to manage emotions, cultivate compassionate relationships with themselves and build a life that is based on their values. Although it can be a challenging process, clients are offered different avenues to process their traumatic experiences at their own pace and comfort.
Brittany’s therapeutic style is authentic and compassionate. They strive to offer inclusive services that are both LGBTQIA2S+ and neurodivergent affirming. Brittany welcomes clients incorporating their spirituality and relationship with nature into their treatment if that is desired.
Beyond this work, Brittany enjoys building land and lineage relationships, volunteering on archeology and community remembrance projects, and cycling.
